September Training Day UPDATE #2
The September training day will be held Saturday, 09/08/2018, at SSJ Farm Quail Preserve beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The event calendar has been updated and directions/map are available.
Event Calendar Updates
The Event Calendar has been updated to include hunt tests scheduled through December 2018 for FL, GA, AL, NC, and SC. It includes all hunt tests currently posted on the official UKC hunt calendar and will be updated as more information is added.
Additionally, the Calendar has been updated to post training days through December 2018 for NEFHRC. Please note there is a training day each month through the end of the year. This is because NEFHRC will not be hosting a Fall Hunt Test due to an unforeseen conflict in dates.
August Training Day UPDATE #2
The August training day will be held on Saturday, August 11th, at South Point Community Church 7556 Salisbury Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32256 beginning at 8am.
Grand Handlers Workshop
From Elaine Mitchell, PR Rep Region 4/4A:
Region 4 is hosting a Grand Handlers Workshop presented by Marcus Bice and Stephen Durrence on August 18th & 19th in Sylvania, GA. This is an HRC sponsored event and is open to everyone. The idea is to help the guy/girl that aspires to run the Grand have a better idea of what to expect when they get there and how to set themselves up to have the best possible chance for success. With the Grand in Cheraw next spring, we are hoping lots of local handlers will be ready to give it a try. I am attaching an information sheet and a registration form to this email. Please share it with your members. It has been advertised on Facebook but not all of our members us social media.
It is difficult to do much in the August heat and we are asking everyone to please consider leaving their dogs at home this trip so that we don’t keep them on a hot truck all weekend. Stephen will provide finished/grand level dogs from his kennel for us to work with. He will have the ability to swap dogs in and out and house them at the kennel so we can limit their exposure to the heat. Handlers will be drawn at random from a qualified pool of applicants so depending on how many people we have in attendance, there IS the possibility that you may not be drawn to handle a dog.
There is a $50 charge to attend the workshop. Stephen and Marcus are both donating their time and will not receive any compensation from this seminar. We will provide lunch onsite both days, soft drinks, port-a-potties, birds/bird boys etc. Once all seminar expenses are covered, any money left will be set aside to fund future events.

Joe Abood Obituary
It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of NEFHRC member Joseph Abood, 76, on July 15, 2018. Joe passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
Joe’s love of life was evident to all.He loved automobiles and boats and had longtime careers in both businesses. He had a fondness for dogs and was an excellent trainer. Joe was also a great cook and shared his talents for us to enjoy at many hunt tests! Joe was also very talented at gardening, woodwork, and related crafts.
Joe served in the US Army Reserve and was a patriotic American who was also very proud of his Lebanese heritage. He was an active member of NEFHRC and Westside Family Worship Center. Above all, Joe was a man with a contagious smile, kind heart, always willing to help, who loved family and friends, and whose faith in and love for Jesus Christ was evident in everything he did. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Westside Family Worship Center, 9717 103rd Street, Jacksonville, FL 32210. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Westside Family Worship Center or the charity of your choice.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Carolyn and the rest of Joe’s family during this time.
August Newsletter
I’m sorry to say there will be no August newsletter. I apologize, but unfortunately, there is a family matter that requires the attention.
I will do everything I can to provide a September issue of The Hunter’s Blind.
Again, I apologize and hope it does not inconvenience anyone too much.

Change to Training Day Schedule
Beginning in August, the monthly training days will now be held on the second Saturday of each month. Accordingly, the August training day is rescheduled to Saturday, August 11th and the September training day is rescheduled to Saturday, September 8th. This will allow members who belong to both Central Florida and NEFHRC to attend both clubs’ monthly training days.
The Events Calendar has been updated to reflect the new dates!

June 2018 Training Day UPDATE
The June training day is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2018 beginning at 8:00 a.m. The training will be held at Betsy Reiney’s property in Bostwick, FL. (Palatka)
